The Curriculum
Lower School: Key Stage 3
For the first two years students follow a foundation course which includes Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science, French, German, Spanish, Geography, History, Information Technology, Art, Design and Technology, Drama, Music and Physical Education. To allow students to achieve their maximum potential there are graded teaching groups (sets) in a range of academic subjects. In English, Science, Maths for example, each student will be set to work in the group best suited to their ability in that particular subject.
For a number of other subjects students are taught in mixed ability groups so that the students from various academic sets can meet and work together on equal terms. Arrangements have been made for students with specific learning difficulties to have additional guidance and help on an individual basis until the particular difficulty is remedied.
